Our mission at Rambling Rose Alpaca Ranch is to maintain a friendly, healthy, organically raised herd of alpacas, handled often and ready to meet visitors in safe, peaceful surroundings. Disadvantaged children can come with their parent, counselor, or ask to be connected to a mentor and work one on one with an alpaca and a mentor. Sometimes animals can reach a special spot in a child's heart (of any age)when humans cannot be trusted. Our 80 acres are filled with walking trails, a porch swing in the trees, a bench overlooking a quiet valley and various other spots for a quiet moment of reflection. Handicapped visitors can have an alpaca come to meet them at their car. Our desire to reach out to children in troubled situations is to help them find a refuge and place of safety and quiet along with some very special alpacas to get away from their circumstances, even if just for a little while. We are also available for alpaca rescues. Please call us at (906) 639-2914 for an emergency rescue in the Midwest.
- Backpacks are available free to any children in a crisis situation. These backpacks include items such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, personal need items, but we also include comfort items, stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, mittens, toys, etc. Any emergency service or individual can have these at their request. We have worked with the Red Cross and local shelters in emergency situations, and local schools, but anyone can request them.
- We sell alpaca, wool & silk products - socks, mittens, hats, blankets, some hand made by our fiber artist in residence, some products made through our association with a Made in USA Co-op (NEAFP) and sales through eBay (click link below to see eBay sales items).
- Alpaca fiber is known for it's exceptional soft and warm qualities and as being one of the finest and strongest natural fibers, with incredible sheen and insulation, partly due to it's hollow core fiber. Alpacas are originally from South America - Peru, Bolivia and Columbia.
- Sales of our products go back into running our ranch and providing backpacks. Thank you for your support.
- Spring 2008-Additional shelter for inclement weather & hay storage is needed for our ranch. We are hoping to break ground on that project this spring.
