Estevan's Barika with her 2007 Cria, Rudolph (a Green Bay Packer fan)

Our gentle alpacas are being raised with the most natural surroundings we can offer.  Organic methods are used as much as possible.  The alpacas have free range - they can go inside a shelter if they desire, or stay outside all day wandering the hills.  We have predator fencing surrounding their pastures to keep them safe and secure.  Some wandering pheasants and guinea hens help keep parasites to a minimum.  They graze on open pasture and in the winter have hay from a local field that is grown without any intervention or chemcial fertilizers.  We have chosen Suri alpacas as we love the fiber, luster and grace that they present with.  Alpaca fiber is truly a superior fiber.  In our many years of experience with fiber ,  alpaca is the preferred fiber.  Alpaca have soft pads on their feet and do not erode the land.  They eat the tops of grass and leave the roots to protect the environment.   Alpaca have 3 stomachs so they utilize the feed very well.  We have a local gardener that likes the alpaca "beans" that are left behind - they are easy to clean up and do good things to their gardens.   We have a few alpacas, occasionally, that we will part with.  Each is a hard decision, but we realize that others desire to share in the experience of owning and raising these gentle, prized animals, too.  Because of the demand for alpaca fiber from China and Europe, the fiber is increasing in value.  The 2007 Christmas season put a stretch on alpaca fiber suppliers to keep up with the demand for the first time.  This trend is expected to continue as more people find the wonderful qualities of alpaca fiber.  Please take a moment to visit our store.  Our new alpaca socks are created from US alpaca and made in the US through a co-op of alpaca farms.  They more than passed our test for superior socks - a truly amazing quality and comfort in the Survival Sock!
